A land acknowledgement is not meant to be a single statement that begins and ends on a webpage. At its best, it is a starting point for continued learning, reflection, and relationship building.

At Delta Hotels Thunder Bay, we recognize that we are located on lands and waters that have been cared for by Indigenous peoples since time immemorial. This recognition carries responsibility. It invites us to learn more about the history of this place, the communities connected to it, and the ongoing relationship between land, culture, language, and identity.

Learning begins with listening. It means taking the time to understand the stories, experiences, and knowledge of Indigenous communities, while recognizing that this learning is ongoing. It also means approaching the work with humility, knowing that relationship building is not something that can be rushed or treated as a checklist.

For our guests, Thunder Bay offers many opportunities to learn more about the region’s Indigenous history, culture, and creative expression. Local art, community events, cultural spaces, and educational resources all help deepen understanding of the place we are fortunate to welcome people to.

For our team, this commitment means continuing to reflect on how hospitality can be rooted in respect. Every guest experience is connected to place, and every place has a story.
